Watch expert Odawa, Akwesasne Mohawk, and Penobscot Native American artists demonstrate black ash basket making, preparing materials from start to finish, which includes:

  • Pounding a black ash log
  • Splitting and trimming splints
  • Weaving the basket
Learn about the significance of baskets to Native American women’s history, and artists’ perspectives on environmental change and sustainability of basket making resources.

This is a drop-in program, so come experience the demonstration anytime between 1 and 4 pm.
