Dr. Lorenzo Norris gives advice on how to best answer this question during times of personal crisis—either to yourself or to others—with the goal that being honest with yourself and others, can make you feel better.

Dr. Norris currently serves as the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Adminstration for George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) and is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the GWU departemnt of Psychiatry and Behaviuoral Sciences. Since arriving at GWU in 2006, Dr. Norris has held a variety of leadership positions including: Director of the GW Hospital Medical Illness Clinic; Director of the GW Survivorship Center Psychiatric Services; Director of the GW Hospital Consult Liaison Services; Medical Director of Psychiatric and Behavioral Services for George Washington University Hospital, and Associate Residency Director for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He regularly publishes papers in academic journals and has presented at many academic symposiums and national meetings. Dr. Norris has guest edited four issues of Psychiatric Annals with themes ranging from Cancer and Depression to Hope in Cancer Survivorship. Dr. Norris is currently serves as the Editior-in Chief for MDedge Psychiatry which is the #1 online journal for the field of psychiatry. Dr. Norris currently serves as DC Chapter President of the Washington Psychiatric Society, and is Chairs the Communication Commmitte of the Washigton Psychiatric Society.

Inspiration | Action is a new weekly virtual series of programs by Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum to educate and inspire participants to calls of action and become civically engaged.  Experts will briefly present on four related topics based on one monthly theme.   At the end of each program, participants will be provided digital resources to engage, participate in, or just learn more about the topic discussed.
