A pioneer of the form, Kevin B. Lee has made over 350 video essays and has served as an advisor on the Asian Film Archive’s Monographs project. While Truong Minh Quy’s Death of a Soldier looks at how Vietnamese cinema depicts the Vietnam War, Explosive Paradox uses Lee’s conflicted feelings about his family and his Asian American identity after seeing Oliver Stone’s Vietnam War movie, Platoon, as an adolescent.
