Empty space has never meant so much. In this Teen Studio session, we’ll get inspired by patterns in artist duo OSGEMEOS’s vibrant works—including their murals, graffiti, and installations. With guidance from visual artist Ramon Cardenas, teen artists will design their own stencils, and then transform negative space to create their own patterned works. Open to teen artists of all skill levels. ABOUT TEEN STUDIO: ENDLESS WORLDS Teen Studio: Endless Worlds is a free, monthly series of in-person art-making workshops led by teaching artists. Each 90-minute session is designed to engage teen artists in creative exercises inspired by the Hirshhorn’s exhibition, OSGEMEOS: Endless Story, the largest US museum survey of artwork by twin Brazilian artists known globally as OSGEMEOS, Portuguese for “the twins.” Teens will gain skills and experience in illustration, digital art, and more. Join one session, or join them all! Free. Workshops take place once a month on Thursdays from 4:00–5:30 pm. Registration required: Email hmsgeducation@si.edu for sign-up information. Materials: Attendees will receive a Blackbook (sketchbook) to use during the series. Workshop sessions will include all required materials. Accessibility: If there are access services or accommodations that can make your experience more inclusive (e.g., ASL interpretation, live captioning, etc.), please contact hmsgeducation@si.edu. 1–2 week’s advance notice is recommended but not required. |
