Details | Join us for a look at literary legends in the Portrait Gallery’s exhibition “Out of Many: Portraits from 1600 to 1900.” Drawing creative inspiration from portraits of 19th-century American authors, we will discuss literary themes of womanhood, scandal, the Gilded Age and gothic horror. The exhibition includes portraits of Louisa May Alcott (“Little Women”), Nathaniel Hawthorne (“The Scarlett Letter”), Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (“Paul Revere’s Ride”), Edgar Allen Poe (“The Raven”) and Edith Wharton (“The Age of Innocence”). Open to writers of all levels and genres, ages 18 and up. |
