In this workshop, you will learn how to create your own polymer clay trinket dish inspired by the iconic iron lattice work on the outside of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Polymer clay is a lightweight, colorful clay that can be hardened in a home oven. Learn about the museum’s architecture while forming your own trinket dish using colors and patterns inspired by the ironwork. Your ticket includes the cost of all materials needed for the activity, hands-on instruction, and a presentation by an NMAAHC educator. Participants must register by September 18, 2024, to ensure materials kit arrives on time. Kits will be shipped to participants in advance of the program. Materials include: Polymer clay Acrylic roller Depth guides Tissue blade Wet/dry sandpaper Super glue Bowl mold Participants will need to provide parchment paper, a cookie sheet, and a home oven to finish their dish.
